ALPINE ODYSSEY FILM TOUR WRAP UP & BIG RAFFLE
Well the winter tour of my Alpine Odyssey film is done - 12 locations across 4 States/Territories in pubs, halls, breweries, cinemas and backcountry huts. The tour, was a lot of fun and, to date, has raised over $25,000 for Save the Children and Protect Our Winters.
Alpine Odyssey - The Movie
So winter is here and on Wednesday it begins, the screening tour of my Alpine Odyssey film, with the first night in Canberra to a sellout crowd (well there's 6 spots from 150 left). I'm looking forward to it!
Alpine Odyssey - Coming to a brewery, cinema, pub, hall or mountain near you!
I’m very excited to announce screening details for the film of my Alpine Odyssey. Ticketing is now open.
Alpine Odyssey, a film by Ivan Hexter, tells the story of my winter 2022 journey along the 700km length of the Australian alps, a journey I first undertook 27 years ago.
Alpine Odyssey - One Year On…
A huge thanks again for your generosity in supporting Our Yarning via Huw Kingston’s Alpine Odyssey fundraising. We wanted to update you on how the more than $65,000 raised has been used this past year since Huw completed his journey across the Australian Alps.
Mission Accomplished!
Last Sunday afternoon, 52 days since the journey began, I could finally take off my pack and put down my poles. Fittingly the end of my journey was at the historic former ski area of Mt Franklin Chalet, high above Canberra in the Brindabella Mountains and, fittingly again, I enjoyed fresh snow to serenade me to the finish line.
1 Week To Go! 1 Resort To Go!
In the first days of Spring, I sprung across the infant Murray River near the start of its 2500km journey to the sea, and thus leapt from Victoria into NSW.
These past few weeks I've enjoyed some great company on my journey, not just in the resorts but in between too. Alpine Odyssey is as much about others' passion for the high country in winter as it is about mine.
8 Down, 4 To Go!
Just over a month ago my Odyssey began with much water under the bridge and from the sky since then. Over the past fortnight I've made my way from Mt Buller to Mt Hotham, Dinner Plain and then across the High Plains to Falls Creek before skiing at Mt Buffalo.
On Time, On Buller!
From the warmth of my little apartment Monday night, the snowfall raps gently on the window. Yes I'm at Mt Buller, my 4th resort of the 12 and the first of the big ones.
It’s Go Time!
Just this morning, on a very windy and cloudy day, I shouldered a rather large pack and skied away from the Victorian resort of Mt Baw Baw. Next stop Mt Stirling/Mt Buller in about 2 weeks. Finally I'm on my way!
Less Than Two Weeks To Go
Ah the madness of the weeks before a major journey. Here at our Snowy Mountains place, I'm surrounded by piles of equipment, food and other supplies. It will be good to get started and, as always, the tinge of nervousness and excitement as to what lies ahead…
