Alpine Odyssey - The Movie
So winter is here and on Wednesday it begins, the screening tour of my Alpine Odyssey film, with the first night in Canberra to a sellout crowd (well there's 6 spots from 150 left). I'm looking forward to it!
Next up Jindabyne on 17th, then Tumut on 20th, Mt Buller on 22nd, Melbourne on 25th (Sold Out), Bright on 25th........and so on. I'll be at all the screenings this winter.
Sydney on 4th July has some tickets still available but they're selling fast.
I'm also happy to announce that a Hobart screening has been added for 15 July and bookings for that are now open.
All details and tickets for these events here
Bundanoon tickets for 26 July are also open and can be booked here (a seperate booking platform for this one).
The film is just part of an evening of entertainment and fundraising for both Save the Children and Protect Our Winters.
PRIZES AND MORE PRIZES!
Thanks to the generosity of so many brands, we've pulled together over $25,000 worth of prizes to be used over the winter - outdoor and ski gear, accommodation packages and much more, This includes an Overall Raffle worth over $7000 to be drawn at the end of winter. Tickets can be purchased online here and of course are available to anyone!
This leaves over $18,000 in prizes for the individual screenings which we'll use for door raffles, auctions and giveaways. Of course if you were to come along in your best or worst snowsports or winter wear we might tempted to give you a prize
Backcountry Screenings
With the 'civilised' screenings now in place, I'm now working on the logistics of the two planned backcountry screenings - 17 August in the Victorian Alps, 7 September in the NSW Alps. These are for a limited number of people willing and able to ski or snowshoe into the hut locations (around 2 hours from nearest roadhead) and winter camp (some of us think this is real civilisation!). The logistics of moving in projector, battery packs, Bright Brewery beers and popcorn. All part of the fundraising, entries should open for this in a few weeks and will be limited to 30 at each screening.
Changing World
You may have seen some of the widespread media coverage this past week of the release of the Our Changing Snowscapes report from ANU, commissioned by POW. Whilst the screenings are very much about entertainment, we can't ignore the polar bear in the room, in our mountains. There'll be an opportunities at the screenings to discuss what we can do in a changing climate to preserve the alpine country we love.
